My friend, coconut oil

A quick search on Pinterest for coconut oil will pull up about a zillion lists and recipes and ideas for things to do with coconut oil. Maybe more than a zillion. I’m not complaining, I am a huge fan of the stuff myself, and use it everyday in at least a couple of different ways. Coconut oil is almost the only thing I ever use on my skin. I say almost because I occasionally use olive oil instead of coconut oil on my face, but nothing other than those two oils. Coconut oil is the only ‘body lotion’ I use. Period. After  showering but before drying off, I put coconut oil on. Then I towel dry. Yes, this does leave a bit of an oily residue. Yes, it can even make the towels a bit oily. But I love the smell and I love that my skin feels clean and fresh and chemical free. I also put a tablespoon of coconut oil in my coffee every morning. Admittedly, coconut oil may be a bit of a hard sell for your family if they are not accustomed to it. My family usually notices when I slip it into baked goods and I don’t dare use it for anything that involves meat. But they’re coming around. If you’ve ever read the label on body lotions or face potions or if you’ve done any research on what ‘vegetable oil’ really is, you might want to give coconut oil a chance. Maybe it can be your friend too…
